The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-upjQE嘉泰姆

DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-jQE嘉泰姆
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB spacejQE嘉泰姆
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.jQE嘉泰姆
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves thejQE嘉泰姆
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteedjQE嘉泰姆
below 1V. After start-up, the device can operate with inputjQE嘉泰姆
voltage down to 0.7V. The CXSU63133 is suitable for por-jQE嘉泰姆

Inductor SelectionjQE嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple currentjQE嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-jQE嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep thejQE嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limitjQE嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the currentjQE嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. ForjQE嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,jQE嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),jQE嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-jQE嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to bejQE嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “OutputjQE嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-jQE嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitorjQE嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-jQE嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers ajQE嘉泰姆

The converter monitors the output voltage. When the in-jQE嘉泰姆
ternal feedback voltage falls below the reference voltage,jQE嘉泰姆
the main switch turns on and the inductor current rampsjQE嘉泰姆
up. The main switch turns off when the current reachesjQE嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-jQE嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time ofjQE嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-jQE嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current tojQE嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum ofjQE嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage dropsjQE嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme withjQE嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter getsjQE嘉泰姆
high efficiency over a wide load range. jQE嘉泰姆
Start-UpjQE嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.jQE嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumpsjQE嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reachesjQE嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boostsjQE嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.jQE嘉泰姆
Synchronous RectificationjQE嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the needjQE嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost andjQE嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channeljQE嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.jQE嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improvesjQE嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.jQE嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. jQE嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature ProtectionjQE嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-jQE嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-jQE嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the powerjQE嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-jQE嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process andjQE嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-jQE嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°CjQE嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-jQE嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.jQE嘉泰姆
