FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONPzg嘉泰姆

CXSD61038 is a synchronous buck regulator IC that integrates the PWM/PFM control, topPzg嘉泰姆
and bottom switches on the same die to minimize the switching transition loss andPzg嘉泰姆
conduction loss. With ultra low RDS(ON) power switches and proprietary PWM control,Pzg嘉泰姆
this regulator IC can achieve the highest efficiency and the highest switch frequencyPzg嘉泰姆
simultaneously to minimize the external inductor and capacitor size, and thusPzg嘉泰姆
achieving the minimum solution footprint.The CXSD61038 requires only three externalPzg嘉泰姆
power components (Cin, Cout and L). Theadjustable version can be programmedPzg嘉泰姆
with external feedback to any voltage,ranging from 0.6V to the input voltage.Pzg嘉泰姆
At dropout, the converter duty cycle increases to 100% and the output voltagePzg嘉泰姆
tracks the input voltage minus the Rdson drop of the high-side MOSFET.Pzg嘉泰姆
The internal error amplifier and compensation provides excellent transient response, load,Pzg嘉泰姆
and line regulation. Soft start function prevents input inrush current and outputPzg嘉泰姆
overshoot during start up.Pzg嘉泰姆
Inductor SelectionPzg嘉泰姆
For most designs, the CXSD61038 operates with inductors of 1μH to 4.7μH. Low inductancePzg嘉泰姆
values are physically smaller but require faster switching, which results in some efficiency loss.Pzg嘉泰姆
The inductor value can be derived from the following equation:Pzg嘉泰姆
L =VIN × ∆I L × f OSC Pzg嘉泰姆
Where ∆I L is inductor Ripple Current. Large value inductors result in lower ripple current andPzg嘉泰姆
small value inductors result in high ripple current. For optimum voltage-positioning loadPzg嘉泰姆
transients, choose an inductor with DC series resistance in the 50mΩ to 150mΩ range.Pzg嘉泰姆
Input Capacitor SelectionPzg嘉泰姆
With the maximum load current at 1.5A, the maximum ripple current through input capacitorPzg嘉泰姆
is about 0.6Arms. A typical X7R or better grade ceramic capacitor with 6V rating and greaterPzg嘉泰姆
than 10uF capacitance can handle this ripple current well. To minimize the potential noisePzg嘉泰姆
problem, place this ceramic capacitor really close to the IN andPzg嘉泰姆
GND pins. Care should be taken to minimizethe loop area formed by CIN, and IN/GND pins. Pzg嘉泰姆
Output Capacitor Selection Pzg嘉泰姆
The output capacitor is required to keep the output voltage ripple small and to ensurePzg嘉泰姆
regulation loop stability. The output capacitor must have low impedance at the switchingPzg嘉泰姆
frequency. Ceramic capacitors with X5R or X7R dielectrics are recommended due to their lowPzg嘉泰姆
ESR and high ripple current ratings. The outputripple VOUT is determined by:Pzg嘉泰姆

1. The power traces, consisting of the GND trace, the SW trace and the VIN traceshould be kept short,Pzg嘉泰姆
    direct and wide.Pzg嘉泰姆
2. Does the (+) plates of Cin connect to Vin as closely as possible? This capacitor provides the AC currentPzg嘉泰姆
    to the internal power MOSFETs.Pzg嘉泰姆
3. Keep the switching node, SW, away from the sensitive VOUT node.Pzg嘉泰姆
4. Keep the (-) plates of Cin and Cout as close as possiblePzg嘉泰姆
