The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-updTW嘉泰姆

DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-dTW嘉泰姆
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB spacedTW嘉泰姆
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.dTW嘉泰姆
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves thedTW嘉泰姆
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteeddTW嘉泰姆

Inductor SelectiondTW嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple currentdTW嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-dTW嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep thedTW嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limitdTW嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the currentdTW嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. FordTW嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,dTW嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),dTW嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-dTW嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to bedTW嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “OutputdTW嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-dTW嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitordTW嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-dTW嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers adTW嘉泰姆

The converter monitors the output voltage. When the in-dTW嘉泰姆

up. The main switch turns off when the current reachesdTW嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-dTW嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time ofdTW嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-dTW嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current todTW嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum ofdTW嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage dropsdTW嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme withdTW嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter getsdTW嘉泰姆

Start-UpdTW嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.dTW嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumpsdTW嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reachesdTW嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boostsdTW嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.dTW嘉泰姆
Synchronous RectificationdTW嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the needdTW嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost anddTW嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channeldTW嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.dTW嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improvesdTW嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.dTW嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. dTW嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature ProtectiondTW嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-dTW嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-dTW嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the powerdTW嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-dTW嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process anddTW嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-dTW嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°CdTW嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-dTW嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.dTW嘉泰姆
